Improving maternal and child health and gaining control over AIDS, TB and malaria are essential to reaching the Millennium Development Goals which the United Nations agreed to as part of a push to halve the number of people living in poverty by 2015.

In order to do so, two things must happen.

First - the world must continue to increase its investments in healthSecond - the numerous streams of resources available need to be channelled more effectively

Investing in health can create stronger economies

We already have a strong relationship with Mandimba, built up through visits, over the last few years. These visits were initiated through the Association of London, Mozambique and Angola - ALMA, which promotes partnerships between parishes in London and the former Portuguese colonies.

Earlier in 2008 we did a survey of the healthcare in the district. Our recommendations and our plans are written in a report .

A film created from footage taken during this recent visit is in production and will form the basis of our fundraising efforts this year.
